Academic Achievement Program Offered by YMCA After School in 2013/2014

We are pleased to let you know about an exciting development at the Belleair YMCA involving educational programming for youth age Kindergarten through 5th grade for the 2013-2014 school year.  The YMCA of the Suncoast has been selected by the national YMCA office (YMCA of the USA) to pilot an afterschool program out of Cincinnati with impressive results in improving the academic performance of young people.

A critical element of the program’s success is its complementary relationship with the school. The YMCA will be working with the school personnel at Belleair to deliver exciting program components such as free tutoring, academic and personal enrichment clubs, health and wellness activities and much more!

This program has shown success at Belcher Elementary.  We are pleased to report that students participating in the Y are showing higher testing scores (FCAT and FAIR), as well as higher grades in math, reading and writing than those not participating in a quality after school program.

Registration is open.  Visit the Y at  or call 727-467-9622 for details.  Financial assistance is available.
